Welcome to HackATL 2021!
Hi HackATL Participants!
My name is Marawan Elgohry, and I am the HackATL Director for HackATL 2021. On behalf of all of us at EEVM, I’d like to formally welcome you all to HackATL this year! I appreciate all your patience as we got everything ready for you, but we’re now fully furnished and prepared for you all to join us, whether you’re virtual or in person. However, before we officially kick off HackATL, I’d like to go over some of the most important bits of information you need to be successful and have fun this weekend.
First and foremost, if you haven’t already, please double check and make sure you’re registered both on our website and our Devpost. Without being registered on both, you cannot participate in the competition, since Devpost is where we will be accepting team compositions and pitches. As such, please take the time to go ahead and verify your registration now so that you can be sure you’re all good to go for the Hackathon competition.
Second, one of our sponsors, Zane Access, is co-hosting some early workshops at 11:45AM as well as the keynote speaker for HackATL at 3:15PM. To access these workshops, which include NASA and Invest Atlanta, as well as our keynote, you will need to Register Here! I know this is a lot of registrations, but I guarantee you won’t want to miss this keynote! If you have time, the workshops Zane is hosting are also incredibly interesting, such as Invest Atlanta’s Search Engine Optimization Workshop! If you can’t access the registration link, please reach out to me directly at melgohr@emory.edu.
Third, join our Slack workspace at your earliest convenience! The link to join our Slack is here, and, if that doesn’t work, you can also access it by going to hackatl2021.slack.com. If neither of them works for you, please contact me using my email address listed above. The Slack is essential for this year’s HackATL, as, since the competition is mostly virtual, everything ranging from announcements to workshops to recordings will take place either directly on the Slack or on Zoom links that will be posted through the Slack. We also have a dedicated helpdesk both for general questions as well as a team from EchoAR, one of our sponsors, for AR/VR related specific questions. If you’re joining us only virtually, you can also make your teams through our team building channel!

On behalf of everyone at EEVM, I’d like to thank you all for your enthusiasm for HackATL. Every year, we have passionate participants that create incredible startups, and we can’t wait to see what you all produce. I’d also like to apologize for the lack of communication, as I can completely understand that it can be very stressful, but as HackATL is now officially starting, you can expect much more rapid updates! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at melgohr@emory.edu. With all that said, welcome to HackATL! We have spent the past year creating this event for you, so we hope you all get to learn from our workshops, meet amazing and talented peers, and, most importantly, have fun! I can’t wait to see you all very soon.
Best,
Marawan Elgohry
